He died “peacefully” after a loved one told him a sweet, sweet lie: Donald Trump has been impeached.
On April 6, Michael Garland Eliot passed away, according to an obituary in The Oregonian.

The last word he heard? Our president was history.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Teresa Elliot, his “ex-wife and best friend,” shared the decidedly fake news to Michael on his deathbed in order to bring him comfort in his last moments on this irritating planet.
According to the obit:
“Mike ran out of family long ago and is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Teresa Elliott. Though their marriage ran aground, their friendship only grew stronger and hers was the last voice Mike heard. And the last thing she said to him was ‘Donald Trump has been impeached.’ Upon hearing that he took his final, gentle breath, his earthly work concluded.”
The obituary also claims the Charlottesville, Va. native died “surrounded by people who loved him dearly and cared for him selflessly during the last months of his life.”
He’s in a better place now. Those of us he left behind are not.

Free of an agenda (except that gay one)
This is a gay site, who knew?!!
Mo Bro
Nah, Queerty switched over to an anti-Trump propaganda site on November 9, 2016.
One’s lgbt status is secondary to one’s rabid liberalism (or lack thereof).
DarkZephyr
No truly gay site would ever be supportive of Donald Trump. Ever. There’s no sane or sensible reason for any gay person to be OK with much of what Donald Trump does. Selecting mostly anti-gay people for almost every position he appoints. Drastically cutting HIV research funding, repealing protections that Obama put in place for LGBT people, drafting one of the most horrendous anti-LGBT potential laws ever, replacing the first openly gay army secretary with an anti-LGBT activist and so on and so forth. And that’s just all the shitty things he does when it comes to LGBT people. How can any Gay man be ok with any of that?

DarkZephyr, The trupoyedstvo, invading Queerty Isle, like to let flesh rot a bit before consuming it. Alligators wait two weeks, Republicans, eight years. Decomposition releases various gasses, created by microorganisms, appealing to trolls. Rotten to the core, the Trump trolls fan out over the net, spreading decay and tracking juices onto these threads, permeating porous surfaces. (Inspectors liken it to the kitchens at Mar-a-Loafer.) A “special category of banditry,” the Republicans begin to eat itself from the inside out, emitting noxious cadaverine, putrescine odors. When one engages with Trump trolls, putrefaction accelerates. The GOP undergoes enzymatic autolysis. Trapped gasses in the party causes bloat, as evidenced by Resident Trump, then active decay (voters turn on them), lastly, skeletonization…2020. Look, are those ravens circling Mar-a-Pantanosa? The smell of death lingers, long after the last cannibal vacates.
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
So was he gay? Seriously. This is getting confusing
DarkZephyr
Who knows if he was gay? But he was definitely a kindred soul with most sane gay people as designdude points out. We’re not allowed to have articles about kindred souls on this site?
Mo Bro
@DarkZephyr:
In what possible way was this man you never met a “kindred soul”?
mhoffman953
@DarkZephyr I’m curious too as to how this man is a “kindred soul”. Is it just because he’s anti-Trump?
1EqualityUSA
Anti-hate.
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
@DarkZephyr: I don’t buy your “no true gay Scotsman” bullshit [Above)] If you’re attracted to the same sex you’re gay/homo/etc. Saint or sinner (I can learn valuable lessons from both). Occam’s razor shit.
And seriously are you suggesting there’s a lack of LGBT angles (legitimate as well as hysterical trumped up ones) to hang pollital anti-Trump narratives on? LOL I don’t think so.
Bottom line this is a gay site. A GAY SITE. Why replicate generalist non-gay shit that is moreover better represented elsewhere anyway? I mean where do you draw the line? Literally EVERYTHING could be vaguely linked in some sloppy way to some gay human on the planet Earth, to the point of meaninglessness.
(And I hate that this is even necessary: to be clear I’m anti-Trump /conservative AND also deeply sceptical about the the post-Marxist agenda ideology behind intersectionalist Left. Indeed sceptical genenerally about ALL ideologies especially those swallowed uncritically.)
DarkZephyr
You disagree with my words about supporting Trump because this is a gay site? Is Trump gay? Trump does a lot that hurts gay people in the long run.… And unless there has been some information released that I am totally unaware of, Trump identifies as 100% heterosexual. If we aren’t allowed to have articles in support of other heterosexuals, why must this site support Donald Trump? Please explain.
designdude
Why the F__K does it matter if he was gay or not? That’s the same kind of closed minded BS that comes from Trump and his supporters: ‘is he like us? Is he different from us?’ How about we honor this man as a human being and discard labeling this kindred soul. RIP.
Mo Bro
Okay kids, here we have another example of liberals believing anything they’re told, right up there with global warming, white privilege, 9/11 trutherism, malevolent pipelines and the evils of petroleum, gun control’s effect on crime, an unbiased media, the virtues of socialism and affirmative action, liberal tolerance . . . .
Heywood Jablowme
9/11 trutherism??? The #1 proponent of that is Alex Jones, the right-wing whackadoodle.
Mo Bro
@Heywood:
Yes, Alex Jones is crazy. As are all the truthers, like Michael Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Rosie O’Donnell, Margaret Cho, Martin Sheen, Woody Harrelson . . . you know, the usual right-wing whackadoodles.
cabe
if you are so anti liberal, why are you spending time on this site rather than Breitbart or one of those Christian sites where they will tell you that you are a f@g and will burn in hell?
There is a reason most gays are liberal. Over many years, the Republican party has almost always voted against any type of gay rights issue while the Democrats have always been much more supportive. Look at congressional voting records over the past 35 years or so and you will truly see the disparity. There’s really no argument there.
mhoffman953
@cabe Maybe they just want your vote. Politicians will pander to groups to get their vote then when they’re elected, they’ll do nothing for those groups that will help them long term.
This past election is a perfect example. One candidate surges to the top of his party with a pro-American platform centered around stronger immigration policies, his Democratic opponents now pander to illegal Mexicans and radical Islam. Did they pander this hard to these groups prior to the 2016 election? No. So why the sudden change? To illicit votes from sympathizers of those groups.
Ander
Trolls gonna troll.
Mo Bro
@cabe:
I don’t peruse Christian sites because I’m not a Christian, and Breitbart’s too extreme for me to relate.
In case you missed it, this site’s slogan is “Free of an agenda . . . except that gay one,” and not “Free of an agenda . . . except that rabidly anti-Trump one.”
Kieran
So in other words he died when he realized Mike Pence was the new President.
1EqualityUSA
2018, Make Pence a lame duck.
natekerchel
For those who seem unable to understand what ‘kindred soul’ means – it can simply mean someone who thinks like you do. So that makes mhoffman, Mo Bro, Mandrake and Kaiser kindred souls. Mo Bro is being particularly deluded today – all the old denials coming out in force.
If that man was comforted by being told the beast had been impeached so what? I am sure I would feel just as comforted. That is what makes us ‘kindred’ – meaning ‘allied’ or ‘associated’.
Mo Bro
So . . . you’re saying gays are united in their mutual disdain for Trump?
1EqualityUSA
Gays are unwilling to be second class citizens and will fight. Others will help.
natekerchel
Twisting words again MO Bro – nowhere did I say ALL gays think, or even should think, the same. What I have said before is that I cannot understand why any gay men with any self respect would defend the occupant of the White House when he seeks to remove protections from discrimination for lgbt people. But my comment for this article was simply to give my interpretation of ‘kindred soul’ as almost all your little trump cheer-leading group seemed to have difficulty in understanding the concept, despite being a little group of trump kindred souls yourselves.
Mo Bro
So, you “cannot understand why any gay men with any self respect would defend the occupant of the White House when he seeks to remove protections from discrimination for lgbt people”?
I don’t agree that he seeks to remove our protections (remember Obama being against gay marriage before his miraculous “evolution”?), but allow me to rephrase your statement with a couple substitutions:
I cannot understand why any gay men with any self-preservation would defend the religion of Islam when they seek to make us all dead.
And yet . . . curiously, suicidally . . . most of them do.
1EqualityUSA
Your last sentence discounts you entirely.
natekerchel
Entirely deluded. I dont know about other gay men – what I seek to defend is the right to freedom from discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, religious belief and even right wing delusional beliefs. Yes that includes stereotyping all Muslims as terrorists. Although not religious myself I come from an orthodox Jewish family. Not one of my family supports trumps view of Muslims as all being terrorists in waiting. The only ‘suicidal’ gay men I can pick out are those who support the homophobes currently running rampage through various State Houses and in the White House. I might also point out that gay marriage was delivered on Obama’s watch – however much you try to smear him.
o.codone
The difference between New York and London Muslims is like night and day. In New York you’re lucky to find one of these nut jobs preaching their anti-gay shit, but in London it happens all the time. Gays in London have to be careful because they will be called on their gayness by one of these 7th century cave men. When America gets a taste of how Muslims behave in western society and in the gayborhood, when American fags cannot “flaunt it” American gays will be singing a very different political tune. But, by then it will be too late. The barbarians are at the gate. Keep them out.
