The 2021 Met Gala took over the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City last night. The theme of the evening was the Gilded Age and among those on the exclusive guest list were…

Lizzo

Bad Bunny

Janelle Monae

And Hillary Clinton

Just to name a few.

First Lady Dr. Jill Biden kicked off the glittering night with a speech about the importance of fashion, saying “style helps us express things that can’t be put in words.”

Afterward, she toured the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” exhibition, curated by Vogue‘s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, before jetting back to Washington, D.C. to host a celebration of Eid al-Fitr at the White House.

One person who was noticeably absent from the VIP list was former first daughter Ivanka Trump.

Ivanka has, er, had regularly attended the event ever since her father started walking the red carpet there in the 1980s. That all changed in 2017, however, when she was permanently disinvited from the kiki.
