My Choice: Adore Delano

This has been a hard decision for me to make, and I have fought back and fourth for a while, but being faced with a ‘there shall be only one’ decision for this article I have to choose Adore Delano. As much as I love and respect Bianca Del Rio and Courtney Act, I feel that Adore embodies the ‘whole package’ for what RuPaul is looking for in a winner. Not only can Adore sing amazingly, she is also a sickening comedian and actress.

Adore as a Singer: Adore proved her vocal abilities multiple times this season, from her sickening performance in the ‘Shade: The Rusical’ episode, to what was hands-down the best rap performance for the ‘Oh No She Betta Don’t’ music video. She let us know that just because she didn’t win American Idol, there was a reason that she made it though the auditions. Courtney can sing as well, but this is where Bianca falls (mostly) flat.

Adore as a Comedian: Although her stand up comedy routine wasn’t the best this season (not saying it was bad), she has made me laugh so many times this season with her charming humor and personality. If you have any doubts about Adore’s comedy skills, I highly suggest you search for her ‘Angel Baby’ videos on YouTube to find out why they have hundreds-of-thousands of views each. This season, her comedy skills have outshined Courtney on several occasions.

Adore as an Actress: After her stint on American Idol, Adore took acting classes to make her a triple threat. Her performances for ‘The Snatch Game’ and for the final acting challenge were among the best. Bianca did well in these challenges as well, but she always played the same harsh-humor type of character. Adore’s characters proved her performance versatility.

#TeamAdore: The interesting thing about season 6 is that, prior the the cast being announced, I had known Adore, Bianca and Courtney… through YouTube that is. All three queens are exceptionally talented in their own special ways, but if I had to pick only one I’d have to choose #TeamAdore!

Disclaimer: If Bianca or Courtney end up taking the crown I will still be satisfied with the the result.

My Choice: Bianca Del Rio

I’m sitting here charged with giving my thoughts on who is going to be crowned winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6 and, even down to the wire, I’m having trouble deciding. I do think the right three girls made it to the finals this year and they are all such strong candidates for the crown.

Adore is truly adorable. She won me over despite myself because I was not into some of those mid-calf, uncinched runway looks she featured, especially early on. She is obviously a talented singer and slayed it in the rap competition, even wiping up her fellow Idol alum, Courtney Act. However, as all of the judges have noted, she is still very, very young and I’m not sure her coltish neck is strong enough to carry the weight of Ru’s crown. I think she needs more time to mature and to polish up.

Courtney Act is beautiful. And, as she proved this week, smart. Yesterday, Courtney released her new music video and single “Mean Gays.” Perfect timing, right before the finale—this has helped her grab media attention. However, I found Courtney a little too “ordinary” in her beauty and she did tend to rely on pretty. Gorgeous she is, but I’m just not sure that Courtney is unique enough to make her stand out as not just “a” but THE superstar.

So onto Ms. Bianca. I will admit at first she was not my favorite contestant. I found her constant comebacks funny but abrasive and it all made her look a little mean. Then, as the season went on, I got to see the softer side of Bianca. She didn’t have to lend Adore that waist cincher (thank god she did!), and I think she was really responsible for Trinity Bonet gaining some confidence and starting find her footing (a bit too late in the competition, unfortunately).

Even though she is the (second) oldest queen this season, Bianca del Rio is a modern girl. Her makeup, which bothered both Michelle Visage and myself early on, improved over the season. She looked absolutely gorgeous in some of her outfits in the later episodes.

Plus, the bitch is funny! And with her age, I mean maturity, I mean experience I feel that Bianca has what it takes to carry the crown until Season 7.

The final deciding factor on why I am jumping on board #TeamBianca is because she is ON TOP of her social media. She is connected with her fans. As a fan who likes to crack a joke on Twitter, when I see that Ms. B has favorited it, I feel like I might have made her laugh. This attention to her fan base has made me, and I’m sure many others, feel great.

I mean come on, it’d be “Baloney!” if Bianca doesn’t win.

My Choice: Bianca Del Rio

Right from the first episode, it was clear that Bianca Del Rio was something special. From her quick wit, to her amazing sewing skills, to her talent as a performer of all stripes, Bianca has been a standout queen in this season. From never having been in the bottom two or three to consistently being at the top, Bianca not only has the talent and the ability to be America’s Next Drag Superstar, she has the heart as well.

While she can cut a queen with her words alone, she has shown throughout this season that she is kind and considerate of her fellow contestants. Bianca showed that she is not just a competitor, but also a friend and peer to all of the various queens in this season’s cast. While she had brief spats with other girls (Trinity, Laganja), Bianca always stayed direct and honest.

Her moment to shine was always during performance challenges. Her Judge Judy during Snatch Game was a very close second to winner, BenDeLaCreme’s Maggie Smith. She dominated at the Queens of Comedy challenge, closing the show with so much hilarity that no one wanted to see her walk off stage. Even the rap challenge, something that Bianca didn’t exactly seem cut out for, she managed to deliver a memorable and witty performance.

When it comes to choosing a winner for each season of Drag Race, the queen that gets crowned has to be the whole package. She needs her own style on the runway, her own style of performing, and of course, charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent. From her hilarious one-liners and her amazing runway looks to how she could always blow the judges away with her performances, Bianca deserves the crown this season.

My Choice: Bianca Del Rio

This season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, to be honest, was a little disappointing. Yes, they gave us all the drama we wanted, but all of the ladies’ looks on the runway seemed to be on a lower caliber then the previous seasons. Of course, there were timeless looks that left us gaging—for example, Trinity K. Bonet’s amazing feather creation and even DeLa’s hot glue excellence in the first challenge—but I felt like the ladies all could’ve given us a little more. This was said to be the best of the best of seasons, but it left me longing for more.

I am a HUGE Bianca Del Rio fan and I would love nothing more then for Ru to “crown the clown!” Bianca was a fighter right out of the gate this season and proved early on that she would be fierce competition. Whether you love her for her witty come backs or for her campy New York style, one thing was for certain: she was in it to win it! Never being in the bottom two, she remained safe from lip syncing for her life the entire season (minus the final challenge where it always happens). However, the same can be said for Courtney Act…

Miss Act has won only two challenges, where Miss Del Rio has claimed three plus a mini challenge win. Adore Delano didn’t do too shabby and claimed three main challenges and two mini challenges, which actually puts her in the lead for the most wins. However, of the final three, Adore  is the only one to have fallen into the bottom two. I am an Adore fan, but if a winner is chosen based on challenge stats wouldn’t she be the weakest? Or does it give her an advantage?

Regardless of who wins, I think we can all agree that each of the final three have many strong points and many weak points. At this point it’s really any queens game.

What I think will happen is that Adore Delano will win this season (even though I do want it to be Bianca). However, the road will not end for Bianca. I easily see the show’s producers scooping her up for the pending “All Stars” season. Who knows, we may even see Courtney and her as a pair. Team CouRio does have a nice ring to it!
